Active travel

Nature and a healthy environment are essential for our health and wellbeing. By delivering accessible, connected, safe and clean greenspace as well as creating and sustaining an active travel infrastructure and culture, we can help contribute to the improved health and wellbeing of staff, students and the wider community.

Cycling, running and walking are great ways to experience the natural environment and contribute to a healthy lifestyle.

  • Walking The easiest way to enjoy the outdoors. There are plenty of options to add more walking into everyday life from walking as part of your commute or to get to meetings to lunchtime strolls or even walking meetings.

  • Running Do you already run or are you considering giving it a try? Join the growing community of run-commuters or explore the University running groups for health and fitness.

  • Cycling Whether you are an existing cyclist or someone who is just considering giving it a go, why not connect with the lively cycling community or check out the supporting facilities and initiatives we have in place.
