Sustainability Champions

Our students can become Sustainability Champions and take on an additional role alongside their degree programme to promote awareness of sustainability issues among their student peers and encourage environmental action.

Sustainability Champions contribute by:

  • Organising sustainability events to encourage peers to take part in 50,000 Actions and the Sustainability Challenge.
  • Running social media takeovers to raise awareness of sustainability activities at the University.
  • Championing sustainability in their subject area.
  • Taking part in other sustainability activities such an environmental audit or being part of a committee.

The Sustainability Champion role can be used towards the Stellify Award, our University’s unique award to support students’ personal development and future career paths.

The programme is now closed to new participants and will reopen in September 2024.

I found it to be a brilliant scheme as a student because it gave me the opportunity to meet like minded people and organise events, offering great experience for my future career and developing life and social skills. The programme was well organised and I felt that I was doing my part without being overloaded with projects. I would highly recommend this step up and lead role to all students; I am grateful for my experience and what I have learnt from the programme.
