Cultural institutions

Our cultural institutions including the Manchester Museum, renovated and reopened in 2023, build on our civic, national and international partnerships to advance the social, environmental and individual wellbeing of our communities.

Festivals and events

We organise and take part in events which bring learning – and fun – to a world beyond our University campus. One example is The Faculty of Science and Engineering’s ScienceX, a festival held annually at locations across Manchester, giving visitors a fascinating insight into the latest science and engineering research.

Social responsibility

As England’s first civic university and the first higher education institution to set social responsibility a core goal, we remain committed to supporting the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Social responsibility is at the heart of our ‘why’, reflected in our purpose to advance education, knowledge and wisdom for the good of society.
