Students' Union Environmental Policy
The Students' Union passed an extensive environmental policy under the name 'Going Green', in May 2011. The motion, amongst other things, placed commitments on the Union to:
- Invest in renewable energy
- Set standards in waste management
- Do its utmost to inform and educate about climate change and environmental issues
- Actively lobby the University to progress its own sustainability agenda

Edwin Broni-Mensah, a young entrepreneur from The University of Manchester has been awarded £1,000 by Shell LiveWIRE's Grand Ideas programme to help him develop his business GiveMeTap.
